これは中学生に出す問題ではないよ。
まず文法が難しすぎる。
塾かなんかの問題？
ネットの検索で訳は、出来るだろうけど…。
こんな難しい文法やってるんですか？
?The oxen once upon a time sought to destroy the Butchers,who practiced a trade destructive to their race.
・まずは主語を探してみよう。
主語は名詞だよね。
・whoの前にカンマがあるけど、ないときとの違いは解る？
カンマがあるときのwhoは、何を指してるかな？
?they assembled on a certain day to carry out their purpose, and sharpened their horns for the contest.
・theyは、小文字でOK?
・on は前置詞、on a certain day は、なんと訳す？
（一度、この前置詞以下を除外して訳してみよう。文がスッキリ！）
?But one of them who was These Butchers,it is true ,slaughter us,but they do so with skillful hands,and with no unnecessary pain.
・最初に“But one of them who was These Butchers,”を訳してみよう。
それを主語として考えると、slaughter usは何になる？
・but以下と、and以下を別々に訳して見よう。and以下はどこにかかるの？
解ったかな？
